Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup mini chocolate eggs
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add flour until the mixture resembles damp sand. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until lightly golden at the edges. Let cool.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine condensed milk and remaining butter. Stir continuously until bubbly and thickened (about 5-7 minutes). Pour over the baked shortbread layer.
  5. Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for about one hour to set.
  6. Melt dark chocolate chips in intervals of 30 seconds in the microwave until smooth. Drizzle over the chilled caramel and scatter mini chocolate eggs on top while warm.
  7. Chill again briefly before cutting into squares and serving.
