- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 large egg
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into four oval patties about one inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patties until browned on both sides (about 3 minutes per side). Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, sauté sliced mushrooms until golden brown (approximately 5 minutes).
- Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet; stir well. Bring to a simmer and thicken with cornstarch mixture.
- Return patties to the skillet and simmer in gravy for about 10 minutes.
