- 3 tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 large eggs, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat 2 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent; add garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Add ground meat to the skillet; season with salt, pepper, oregano, and cinnamon. Cook until browned.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sweet potato slices at the bottom. Top with half of the meat mixture; repeat layers.
- For the béchamel: Melt butter in a saucepan; whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk while stirring until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in beaten eggs.
- Pour béchamel over layered moussaka and bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
