- 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes (for the sauce)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for the sauce)
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your smoker or grill to 225°F (110°C).
- 2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- 3. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 4. Smoke the meatballs for about 1 hour or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- 5. For the sauce, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
- 6. Toss the smoked meatballs into the sauce and serve hot over pasta or on their own.
