  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 4 large fresh sage leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Stir in melted butter, honey, salt, eggs, and chopped sage.
  3. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms; add extra flour if too sticky.
  4. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces (about 12). Shape into balls and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Let the rolls rise again for another 30 minutes, then preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Brush tops with melted butter and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
