Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups stale French or sourdough bread cubes
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Spread stale bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast for about 10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced onion and celery until tender (about 5 minutes).
  4. In a large bowl, combine toasted bread cubes with sautéed veggies, fresh herbs, and enough chicken broth to moisten without soaking.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes to crisp up the top.
