  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced onions

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions in olive oil over medium heat until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  2. Increase heat, add ground beef, and cook until browned, around 7–10 minutes.
  3. Lower heat and mix in cocoa powder, cinnamon, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce and let simmer on low for 20 minutes.
  5. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving in bowls topped with cheddar cheese and diced onions.
